Day 1: Dublin!

We're here! We landed yesterday right on time and cleared the airport pretty quickly - which we were thankful for, because this put distance between us and the man that had been tapping his water bottle on his knee throughout the middle 2 hours of the flight. A taxi and 20 minutes late we were in Smithfield Square eating breakfast and waiting for our AirBnB to be ready. Post-check in we found what we now know to be the Irish version of a "Five Below" and bought laundry detergent, which has since been replaced with the Whole Foods version - little did we know that such market-fanciness existed diagonally from our place until after we wandered around looking for a few essentials.

Our place is located right along the Square and near the Jameson Storehouse - also just a few minutes away from the Guinness Storehouse! With just two days in each city we're trying to balance taking our time with wanting to see and do as many things as possible. Yesterday we managed to learn how hot water works and what a "boost" is when it comes to water heaters here (ask Brendan), but not only that - we navigated our way through the City and made our way to Saint Patrick's Cathedral, spent some time in the park, and then wandered through Temple Bar before eating at a recommended restaurant (Pichet) on Trinity Street.

After dinner and some amazing drinks we wandered back through Temple Bar, questioning whether drinking in the streets was okay, as a man wandered past with several wine glasses and what appeared to be a block partied was occurring nearby. According to the stickers on the trashcans, drinking in the streets is not okay - safety first, kids. Having slept for 2 hours over the course of the past 48 we decided that a snack and bottles of water were much needed before bed. So here we are! Rested and ready for day 2 in Dublin...the joy of not getting to do everything is having something to do when we come back!
